Queens’ Museum of Art’s 8th International Outdoor Film, Dance and Music Series is designed to give museum-goers a taste of different world cultures. This week, enjoy the dance and music of Haiti on July 6, 2012 from 6.30 pm – 10 pm.
ASE Dance Theatre Collective will present a dance performance, while DJA-Rara will perform their take on the ancient music of Haiti.
“Rara,” a form of music from the Americas, originally served to give slaves, protesting against the French, a voice. These days, “Rara” is used to give voice to those struggling under dictators.
