Catskill Citizens for Safe Energy will be hosting a free screening of "Gasland" at Le Cheile Pub/Cafe. There will be a Q&A session after the film.

Gasland, released in 2010 and directed by Josh Fox, was called an "exhaustive and eye-opening look at natural-gas drilling and its potential dangers" by the Dallas Morning News.

Supporters of the controversial procedure — which is currently banned in NY, but is the subject of hotly contested political debate — say it releases gases from deep underground the shale layer to be used for fuel, providing jobs to hard-hit town in the process. But critics say fracking involves dangerous chemicals that contaminate underground water supplies and endanger the environment.
