On July 29, Urban Park Rangers are organizing an annual sandcastle contest at Rockaway Beach at 117th street. The event, sponsored by West End Realty, features activities and prizes for people of all ages.

It's recommended that participants bring their own buckets and tools. The contest, held from noon to 2 p.m., is free.
