STAPLETON — A state court officer was arrested after police found heroin sticking out of his bulletproof vest during a traffic stop, police said.

Officers stopped William Moser, 60, after they spotted him driving while on a cellphone at Front and Wave streets at about 12:15 p.m. Thursday, a spokeswoman for the NYPD said.

When police approached his car, they saw Moser with two plastic baggies of heroin hanging out of his uniform's bulletproof vest, police said.

Moser was given a desk appearance ticket and charged with drug possession and reckless driving, authorities said.

The arrest was first reported by the New York Daily News.

Moser has been a court officer since 2000 and disciplinary action against him for the arrest hasn't been determined yet, said a spokesman for the state's court system.

The New York State Court Officers Association did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
