THE BRONX — Police have identified the man who they say tried to rape a 74-year-old woman using a walker inside a Bronx apartment building earlier this month.

Investigators believe Joshua McCallum, 23, followed the woman into an elevator at the building on East 161st Street and Park Avenue, then put her in a chokehold outside her 11th floor apartment Aug. 18 around 10:45 p.m., the NYPD said.

When McCallum groped the woman, she banged on a neighbor’s door and he fled, according to police.

McCallum is about 5-foot-7 and 180 pounds. He was wearing a black baseball cap, Jordan sneakers and a black T-shirt with black shorts, according to police.
