DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — Four thieves disguised as construction workers stole more than three quarters of a million dollars worth of valuables from a Downtown Brooklyn jewelry store in a brazen Thursday afternoon robbery, according to police and witnesses.

The robbery unfolded just after 5 p.m. at Court Jeweler, located at 60 Court St., leaving a shop employee bloodied and stray jewelry scattered about the store, according to one witness who said she was passing by the store just after the robbers fled.

“I saw [the employee] come running out of the store with blood on his head yelling ‘help me, help me!’” said the woman, who declined to give her name.

One accomplice, dressed in a white Tyvek suit, stood outside as a lookout while the other three robbers, wearing construction gear including reflective vests and at least one hard hat, flashed a handgun and muscled their way inside, snatching about $800,000 worth of goods, police said.

The suspects then dashed outside and ditched their disguises on the sidewalk and inside the Borough Hall subway stop as they fled by train, police said.

The store employee, a 67-year-old man, suffered a cut to the head and was brought to Methodist Hospital for observation, according to a police spokesman.

No arrests had been made as of 10 p.m., police said.
