UNION SQUARE — If you're looking to adopt a furry friend, you'll have your chance this weekend in Union Square.

The annual Adoptapalooza hosted by the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals will bring more than 300 dogs, cats and rabbits to Union Square's North Plaza on Sunday afternoon.

Among the animals looking for forever homes are Gretal, a cuddly pit-hound mix who loves belly rubs and will be waiting at the event's Animal Haven booth, and Mary, a playful Tennessee Tree Hound mix who will be at the Posh Pets Rescue booth, according to event organizers.

For the feline inclined, Charlene the friendly mother cat is waiting to be adopted now that all her kittens have found homes. She will be at the Patricia H. Ladew Foundation booth, said organizers.

Attendees will also be able to get tricks and training tips from certified Petco trainers, and kids will be treated to face-painting and temporary tattoos. The Petco Foundation will be awarding $200,000 to the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals, which will go toward the city's programs for homeless animals, said organizers.

The event kicks off at noon and wraps up at 5 p.m.
