HELL’S KITCHEN — An artist who spent a year working as Muhammad Ali’s personal photographer is showcasing his portraits of the larger-than-life figure at a little-known exhibit space inside the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

Sixty-four photos taken by Michael Gaffney are currently on display at the art gallery inside the Port Authority Bus Terminal, near its Ninth Avenue entrance.

Between 1977 and 1978, Gaffney took more than 8,000 photos of “The Greatest,” Untapped Cities reported.

“The collection chronicles a perfect trilogy in a year in the life of the legendary boxer, starting with his tough win against Earnie Shavers; a shocking loss to Leon Spinks; and a glorious, redemptive comeback victory to win the Heavyweight Championship for an unprecedented third time,” the release says.

Gaffney’s images also capture Ali’s family life and his philanthropic efforts.

The exhibit, which is free and open to the public, will be on view 24/7 until Feb. 26.

The bus terminal was a “fitting” place for an exhibit honoring Ali, Gaffney’s release adds.

“The People’s Champ, as Ali was known, loved New York City, home and host to a wide range of nationalities, and from all walks of life, who stream through the world’s busiest bus terminal."
