MANHATTAN — A robber wearing a ski mask beat another man with a hammer after the victim forked over a handful of Euros during a mugging in Greenwich Village Monday night, police and sources said.

The 37-year-old victim was walking home when the suspect pushed him from behind and then struck him on the head with a hammer outside 103 W. Third St., an NYPD spokesman and sources said.

“Give me your money,” the attacker demanded, sources added.

The victim took some Euros out of his pocket, but the robber grabbed them and threw them on the ground.

The victim then tried to run away, but the attacker continued to strike him with the hammer before fleeing south on MacDougal Street, sources said.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital with lacerations to his face and fluid in his eyes, according to police and sources. He was in stable condition, the NYPD said.

The suspect was described as is in his 30s, standing about 5-foot-9, and wearing a ski mask, a dark jacket and sneakers, police and sources said.
