EAST VILLAGE — Make Sandwich, a new gourmet sandwich shop from the creators and owners of grilled cheese chain Melt Shop, is now slinging its unique subs steps from Union Square.

The shop, which officially opened its doors at 135 Fourth Ave. on Sunday, boasts a menu of unique sandwiches such as roasted tri-tip steak with salsa verde and Tunisian olive oil on a baguette, and miso-charred zucchini paired with mushroom falafel and topped with hummus, sprouts and lemon tahini on ciabatta bread.

For the breakfast crowd, the shop offers a take on the New York classic sausage, egg and cheese with maple-ginger sausage, pimento cheese and chile ketchup.

Patrons are also free to make their own sandwiches, selecting from the shop's many breads, meats, cheeses and sauces.

The deli was launched by Spencer Rubin, founder of the Melt Shop, which hawks a variety of gourmet grilled cheese options out of shops in Midtown and FiDi.
