CONCOURSE — The site of a former Italian bake shop near Yankee Stadium is to start selling polishes instead of pastries.

Bliss Beauty, a salon and beauty supply store, will be moving into 103-107 E. 161st St. in the coming weeks, replacing Palombo, which held its grand opening at the building in June 2015 only to abruptly shut down less than a year later amid rumors of cafe founder Paul Palombo's declining health.

The incoming salon will sell beauty supplies including nail polishes, hair care items and skin products, according to building property manager Paul Mingrino.

"They’ve got good solid money behind them, a business plan," he said. "They looked like a healthy choice to put in there for us. They’re a pretty reputable company."

The business has multiple other locations throughout The Bronx and the new location at the former Palombo building will hopefully open by Feb. 1, according to Mingrino.

Representatives from Bliss Beauty declined to comment on the new store.

Palombo had been a staple of The Bronx since its first location opened in the borough on Allerton Avenue in the early 1940s, but by the time its 161st Street location closed down Mingrino said the business was months behind on rent payments and had already shuttered its other branches.
