MIDTOWN — The same Duane Reade lost more than $3,200 worth of condoms, cough medicine and shampoo to thieves during a three-day spree, the NYPD said.

The first incident occurred at the store, located at 1370 Sixth Ave. between West 55th and 56th streets, on Oct. 9 when a thief entered the address around 6:11 p.m. toting two blue backpacks, an employee told police after watching surveillance video.

The unidentified suspect placed 78 boxes of condoms worth $783 and 25 bottles of Head and Shoulders shampoo worth $180 inside the backpacks and left the store without paying, police said.

A day later, on Oct. 10, a thief walked into the same Duane Reade around 8:15 a.m., took 28 bottles of Essie nail polish worth $322 off the store’s shelves and stashed them inside his shirt and pants, the NYPD said.

When an employee stopped the man, he said, “I’m sorry,” handed the bottles over and left the store, police said. He wasn’t arrested, the NYPD said.

Finally, on Oct. 11, a pair of thieves walked into the store around 7:57 p.m. and took three boxes of OneTouch Ultra blood sugar test strips worth $306 and 150 cough and cold medicines worth $1,960 from the shelves, police said.

One of the men stashed some of the items in a black Jimmy Jazz bag, while the other hid some of the items in his pants, the NYPD said.

In total, the Duane Reade lost $3,229 worth of merchandise to the thieves, police said.

No one had been arrested in connection with the incidents as of Monday.

A manager working at the store Tuesday declined to comment on the thefts.
