MIDTOWN — A repeat sex offender was arrested after being spotted groping four different women in the subway in a two-day span, officials said.

A police officer first saw Demetrius Sherrod, 56, grope a woman several times around 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 7, inside a subway car stopped at 14th Street and Eighth Avenue, a complaint from the Manhattan District Attorney’s office said.

The next day around 6:05 p.m., the same officer was on a train traveling from 14th Street and Eighth Avenue to 42nd Street and Eighth Avenue when he saw Sherrod grope another female passenger, the DA’s office said.

It wasn't immediately clear what train the man was riding during the first two incidents.

After the woman moved away from Sherrod, he left the subway car and got on a southbound E train, police and the DA’s office said.

On that train, the same officer saw Sherrod touch the buttocks of two different women, one of whom moved away from him, the complaint said.

Sherrod was later arrested and charged with four counts of persistent sexual abuse, according to the complaint. It was unclear why the officer did not arrest him after the first groping.

Sherrod has been busted at least three other times for the same offense.

In November 2014, he was charged with forcible touching and sexual abuse after he groped a woman as she walked in front of him inside the Union Square subway station, the DA’s office said.

Then in February 2010, Sherrod approached a woman from behind at the corner of Canal and Mott streets and squeezed her buttocks, the DA’s office said. He was again charged with forcible touching and sexual abuse in that incident.

He was also arrested for a forcible touching incident in July 2007, but that arrest was sealed, the NYPD said.

Sherrod was released from jail on Monday after paying $10,000 bail, according to the DA’s office and city Department of Correction records.

In court on Wednesday, a judge adjourned his case to Nov. 15, the DA's office said.

His attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Wednesday.
