MORNINGSIDE HEIGHTS — Police are looking for a man they say groped a 24-year-old woman after following her into her Morningside Heights building.

The suspect trailed the victim into her residential building near West 112th Street and Amsterdam Avenue at around 11 p.m. on Saturday, the NYPD said.

He then groped her below the waist before fleeing east on West 112th Street, police said.

The building where the incident took place is owned by Columbia University and houses both students and other tenants, but it is not a dormitory, a school spokesman said. The victim was not a student at the university, he noted.

The suspect was described as 20 to 25 years old, standing 5-foot-6 and weighing 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a gray shirt, gray shorts, white sneakers, glasses and a backpack.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
