MAP: Where to Celebrate 'National Night Out' in Central Brooklyn

BROOKLYN — Neighbors can get to know their local police officers during the NYPD's annual "National Night Out Against Crime" Tuesday in a string of Brooklyn events featuring belly dancers, water slides, live music and more.

The annual event, which looks to build awareness about crime prevention and strengthen police and community relations, will be held across the city’s precincts.

The first Central Brooklyn event kicks off about 11 a.m. in Bedford-Stuyvesant's 81st Precinct with other neighborhoods following throughout the afternoon and offering food, rides, giveaways, games and more activities for the whole family.

Crown Heights

► 71st Precinct
4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Crown Street between Bedford and Rogers avenues

Enjoy free food, rides for kids and music in the 71st Precinct, located in southern Crown Heights and Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, put on by the precinct’s community council.

77th Precinct
11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Brower Park, Kingston Avenue at Park Place

Belly dancers, Double Dutch jump roping and an award ceremony to honor local anti-violence activist Rev. Taharka Robinson are on the schedule for the 77th Precinct all-day affair.

Prospect Heights

78th Precinct
6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Grand Army Plaza, Flatbush Avenue and Eastern Parkway, Prospect Heights

Join the precinct of Prospect Heights and Park Slope in one of Brooklyn’s most iconic public spaces for an anti-violence rally.

Bedford-Stuyvesant

79th Precinct
2 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Bedford-Stuyvesant Restoration Plaza, 1368 Fulton St.

Join Bed-Stuy’s officers for fun and games at Restoration Plaza, hosted by the 79th Precinct and members of the precinct’s community council.

81st Precinct
1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Jackie Robinson Playground, Chauncey Street and Malcolm X Boulevard,

Bed-Stuy’s eastern precinct will be offering water slides and rides for kids, along with visits from local council members Robert Cornegy, Darlene Mealy and more.

Brownsville

► 73rd Precinct
12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Betsy Head Park, Thomas S Boyland Street and Dumont Avenue

Brownsville residents are welcome for an afternoon filled with giveaways, food, music and more to bring police and neighbors together.
