Anti-Terror Officers Find Loaded Gun on Subway Fare Evader, Police Say

MANHATTAN — Two anti-terrorism transit officers arrested a man for carrying a loaded gun onto a 6 train after they spotted him enter the station without paying his fare on Friday, according to the NYPD.

Officers Jose Garcia and Alex Almonte saw 26-year-old Jamil Collier shimmy his way through a turnstile at the East 116th Street station at about 10:40 a.m., police said.

They followed him onto a northbound 6 train and ordered him to get off.

Collier, of East Harlem, refused to comply and the officers handcuffed him on the platform, police said.

When they searched Collier, they found a .380 handgun with six rounds in the magazine.

Collier was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, theft of service, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct by police.
