Man Crushed to Death by Elevator in WaHi Store, Reports Say

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — A variety store employee was killed in an elevator accident Saturday night, the New York Post reported on Sunday.

Jose Fernandez, 43, was pinned between two floors of the supply elevator at a clothing store at 552 W. 182 St. about 5 p.m., NY1 and the New York Post reported.  

An Elevator Constructors Union Local 1 constructor told the New York Daily News he believed the elevator had been installed by unlicensed workers.
