THE BRONX — A man stabbed a woman multiple times in the back near Fordham University in an apparently random act of violence Sunday morning, an NYPD spokesman said.

The man snuck up behind the 32-year-old woman on Webster Avenue near East 188th Street at about 10:30 a.m. on July 24 and stabbed her three times with an unknown object, the NYPD said.

She told police the attacker was a complete stranger and did not say anything to her before or after the assault, the spokesman added.

She was taken to St. Barnabus Hospital in stable condition.

The suspect is about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and 190 pounds with an afro haircut. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, brown pants and black sneakers.
