CONCOURSE — Two men were arrested in connection to a fatal Bronx shooting early Saturday, after police say the suspects crashed into an NYPD patrol car trying to flee the scene.

Officers on patrol in the South Bronx Saturday morning responded to gun shots outside of 977 Anderson Ave., where they found Hunts Point resident Earl Simmons, 24, shot in the head around 1:55 a.m., according to police.

Simmons was rushed to Lincoln Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Tyrone White, 19, of Tremont, and Keylin Alvarado, 20, of Morris Heights, attempted to flee the scene in a gray Mitsubishi and collided with an NYPD patrol car, according to police. The two men then attempted to run from the crash before being apprehended, police said.

Two officers were taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell and listed in stable condition. A .380-caliber pistol was found at the scene, police said.

White and Alvarado were both charged with murder, according to police. White was also charged with criminally negligent homicide and criminal possession of a weapon, while Alvarado was charged with manslaughter and criminal possession of a firearm, police said.
