THE BRONX — A total of 20 newly renovated affordable apartments are up for grabs in The Bronx, with prices starting as low as $980 per month for a one-bedroom.

The units are located in buildings across the borough at 1636-1640 University Ave., 100 W. 174th St., and 1167 Stratford Ave.

One two-bedroom apartment for $1,183 per month and one one-bedroom apartment for $980 per month are available at 100 W. 174th St., while one two-bedroom and nine one-bedroom apartments are available for the same prices at 1167 Stratford Ave.

Three one-bedroom apartments, four two-bedroom apartments and one three-bedroom apartment are available at 1636-1640 University Ave. for $980, $1,183 and $1,359 per month, respectively.

The buildings are available to households earning between $34,972 and $63,060 per year, and they are being renovated through the city's Department of Housing Preservation and Development.

Eligible city employees and residents of Bronx Community Boards 5 and 9 will receive preference for a percentage of the apartments, and a percentage will also be set aside for eligible applicants with mobility, vision and hearing disabilities.

The application process began on July 18 and runs until Sept. 16, and prospective tenants can apply either online at nyc.gov/housingconnect or request an application through the mail by sending a self-addressed envelope to G&M Properties II: c/o Bronx Pro Real Estate Management, Inc., 1605 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Bronx, NY 10453.

Applications will be selected for review through a lottery process.
