COLUMBUS CIRCLE — A thief snatched a woman’s iPhone with a fishhook after she dropped it onto the subway tracks and then left to get help, the NYPD said.

The 27-year-old woman, from Manhattan, told police she was getting off a southbound D train at the 59th Street-Columbus Circle subway station around 10:15 a.m. on July 10 when her iPhone 6s slipped out of her pocket and onto the tracks between the train and the platform.

The woman left to tell a subway station agent what had happened, but when she returned she noticed the phone was gone, the NYPD said.

That's when another woman came up to her and said she’d seen a man using a fishhook to snag the phone, police said.

No one had been arrested in connection with the incident as of Monday, police said.
