ELMHURST — A  woman was killed, and three others were injured, after a driver lost control of her car along Junction Boulevard, hitting multiple people before fleeing on foot, police said.

The driver, Irene Lee, 56, was speeding westbound on the Horace Harding Expressway service road near Junction Boulevard at about 6:30 p.m. when she lost control of her Porsche and it jumped onto the sidewalk, according to the NYPD.

She hit a tree and then struck a 21-year-old woman who had been walking on Junction Boulevard, police said. The pedestrian was later pronounced dead at Elmhurst Hospital, but has not been identified.

Lee also drove into a 26-year-old woman on a bike who was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries, officials said.

The speeding driver continued on Junction Boulevard, and came to a stop after hitting two cars waiting for the light to change, police said. Both drivers were treated for injuries from that collision, although only one was taken to the hospital.

Lee, who lives on 76th Avenue in Forest Hills, initially fled from the scene on foot, police said.

She later returned and was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a deadly accident and running the red light, but more charges are pending, officials said.
