Teen Yells Anti-Semitic Slur, Hurls Rock at Car Window in Brooklyn: NYPD

BROOKLYN — A young man yelled an anti-Semitic epithet before throwing a rock through the rear window of a car driving up Nostrand Avenue in Midwood on Tuesday afternoon, according to the NYPD.

The teen hurled the rock through the rear driver’s-side window while the Chrysler van was driving up Nostrand near Avenue J about 4:53 p.m., police said. No one in the vehicle was injured and the young man fled south along Nostrand.

The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident as a possible bias crime.

Local worker Joanna Ruiz, 22, said she though the incident was "horrible" and unusual for the neighborhood, which she described as "quiet" and safe.

"You don’t like hearing stories like these," Ruiz said. "People are just trying to live their lives every day."

The young man is about 14-years-old, 5-feet 6-inches tall and 130 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a blue t-shirt and black sneakers.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
