UPPER EAST SIDE — A taxi cab was stolen on Sunday morning when its driver left it running for a quick coffee run, police said.

The cabbie parked his car with the keys in the ignition in front of 1595 Second Ave., near 83rd Street, at about 3:47 a.m., according to the NYPD.

He was away for roughly 10 minutes getting coffee and when he returned, the Toyota Camry was gone, police said.

Police could not say which coffee shop the driver went into while the theft happened.

A few hours later, the taxi dispatch tracked the cab to 8-20 Queens Boulevard, where it was found intact and the thief nowhere to be seen, according to a police source.

No arrests have been made.

This isn't the first time a thief took advantage of a car left with the keys in the ignition.

On May 17, an Upper West Side parent went into the Julia Richman Education Complex at 317 E. 67th St. to pick up his daughter from school — leaving his 2010 Toyota Sienna out front with the keys still in the ignition, police said.

Police later arrested 45-year-old Victor Matosaponte, who they say hopped in and took off with the minivan.
