KIPS BAY — East-side residents can finally splash into summer on Wednesday with the opening of the pool at the Asser Levy Recreation Center.

The pool at Asser Levy reopens for the summer at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, along with the rest of the city’s public, outdoor pools, giving New Yorkers the opportunity to cool off without dragging themselves to the beach.

There are still slots open for free kids' swimming lessons at the pool for the sessions lasting from July 22 to Aug. 5, Aug. 9 to Aug. 19, and Aug. 22 to Aug. 26. Registration for the first session is open until noon on July 11, the second session until Aug. 1, and the third until Aug. 15, according to a Parks Department spokeswoman.

There are typically 20 slots available in each session, and applicants are entered into a lottery upon registration, the spokeswoman said.

Parents can find out more about swimming lessons and the online registration lottery at the Parks Department website.

The pool at Asser Levy is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with early bird and night owl lap swim hours between 7 and 8:30 a.m. and from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Poolgoers must wear a bathing suit — with netting for men’s suits — and may wear a plain white T-shirt, but shirts with colors are not allowed on the pool deck, according the Parks Department.
