QUEENS — A 20-year-old man was assaulted and robbed while he was sleeping in his Jamaica apartment earlier this month, police said Friday.

The incident happened on June 11 at 11:30 p.m. near 90th Avenue and Merrick Boulevard, authorities said.

The victim told investigators that he was sleeping when four men broke into his apartment, struck him in the head with an unknown object and demanded money, police said.

The man gave the intruders $3,200 in cash and an iPhone worth about $900, according to the NYPD.

It was not immediately clear how the suspects got into the apartment.

The victim suffered a laceration to his head and was taken to Jamaica Hospital where he was treated for his injury, police said.

Police described the suspects as being between 18 and 20 years old.

Authorities also released surveillance video Thursday evening that shows two of the four suspects. One of them was wearing a black and white Nike jacket and a bandana. The second suspect was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the words "Rip Smoke" across the chest, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
