WILLIAMSBURG — A sweet-toothed thief swiped $1,800 worth of candy from a dollar store, making off with hundreds of packets of Skittles, M&Ms and other sweet treats, according to police.

The thief crept out of the Dollar Tree at 28 Debevoise St. just before 7 p.m. on June 16 after managing to snatch 1,800 candy bars, police said.

It's not immediately clear how he escaped with such a heavy load. A worker at the Dollar Tree declined to comment on the incident.

A 28-year-old worker at the store reported the theft to police. The thief, who was also captured in surveillance footage, was about 6 feet tall and weighed about 170 pounds, police said.

"He had a bit of a chocolate itch, I guess," a spokesman for the NYPD said.

No arrests had been made as of Thursday morning, police confirmed.
