Driver Killed in Crash With Box Truck in Sunnyside, NYPD Says

QUEENS — A driver died Monday night when he ran through a stop sign and was hit by a box truck in Sunnyside, police said.

Bruce Lanzer, 53, was driving his four-door sedan south on 37th Street minutes before 8 p.m. when he blew through a stop sign at Review Avenue, NYPD officials said.

A westbound box truck driven by a 26-year-old man then slammed into him, police said.

Lanzer, of Glendale, was pronounced dead at Elmhurst Hospital Center, police said.

The box truck's driver, whose name wasn't released, stayed at the scene and wasn't arrested, police said.
