By Serena Solomon | June 13, 2016 3:17pm | Updated on August 23, 2016 3:00pm

NEW YORK CITY — If you're tired of bringing that gym bag to work, try clothing that will get you through  a day in the office AND a workout.

Ditch the bright colors and reflective stripes on your active wear and go for pieces in classic colors and or a single tone, which can offer a classier look that passes as office appropriate.

Here's eight pieces that are good for the gym or the office:

pants

Keepsake Pant from Lululemon
$128

These elegant pants are made from Lululemon's Swift fabric so they have a four way stretch as well as a UPF 50+ sun protection. It comes two colors: textured gray or black.

pants

Adidas by Stella McCartney Top from Net-a-Porter
$100

The glossy snakeskin print gives this tank top a bit of a kick. The sweat-wicking fabric of 80 percent polyester and 20 percent elastane will pull the moisture off your skin if you're having a bad day in the office.

pants

Women's Softball Pants from Under Armor
$29.99

These workout pants have an office-appropriate pin stripe, but you may want to pair them will a long cardigan to hide the Under Armour logo at the top of the thigh.  While the fabric has some give to it, the fit is slouchy with a zip and button-front closure.

pants

Mesh Back Panel Cardigan from Nesh NYC
$140

Nesh NYC is a New York City-based brand that fuses together athletic and casual wear. This thin cardigan will give you some conservative coverage over a skimpier tank top.

pants

Culotte Playsuit from Nesh NYC
$260

While Nesh's culotte playsuit is on the edge of what you can practically exercise in (perhaps yoga and Pilates), it will sure make a day in the office a comfortable one. It is made from a lightweight fabric and the low back means a cardigan or blazer might be required to keep you office-appropriate.

pants

Power Sweatpants from Heroine
$165

Heroine is a New York-based company. These sweatpants are made in the U.S. from polyester and spandex. A casual drawstring waistband is balanced with a little bling from the front zippers.

pants

Classic Slimmie Pant from Yogasmoga
$109

These yoga pants are reversible and come with a stealth side pocket where you can stash your MetroCard on the way to work. They are made in the U.S. and come in black, navy, grey or black with a gray stripe.

pants

Seamless Side Tank from Tory Burch
$75

Designer Tory Burch now has a line dedicated to sportswear. There's plenty of preppy sweaters and classic polo shirts in the line, in addition to swimwear and clothing for golf and other sports. This tank is a nylon, spandex and polyester blend and uses a knitting technique that makes the shirt breathable and pliable.
