3-Month-Old Staten Island Girl's Death Ruled a Homicide, Police Say

By Nicholas Rizzi | June 6, 2016 10:16am

STATEN ISLAND — A 3-month-old girl's death was ruled a homicide on Friday, 10 months after she was found inside a St. George apartment, police said.

Police found Morgan Ricks, of New Brighton, unconscious and unresponsive inside an apartment at 87 Jersey St. on Aug. 30, 2015, the NYPD said.

She was taken to Richmond University Medical Center in critical condition and was in the hospital until she died on Sept. 11, 2015, police said.

The Staten Island Advance reported at the time that Morgan was hospitalized for brain trauma and had been staying with her father the night she was found.

On Friday, the medical examiner ruled Morgan's death a homicide but did not provide the exact cause, police said.

Police had not made any arrests as of Monday morning.
