NOHO — Vintage fashion store Screaming Mimi's is leaving its home of 25 years on Lafayette Street, according to neighborhood blog EV Grieve.
The site reported that the building at 328 Lafayette St. was sold last year and Screaming Mimi's owner Laura Wills was given a year to find a new space.
"Lafayette Street was a wonderful home for almost 25 years but it has changed so much," Wills told EV Grieve.
"I fear it will very soon be blocks of big glass and steel storefronts with no soul. Mostly everyone who opened when we did is gone."
Wills told EV Grieve her new space at 240 West 14th St. between 7th and 8th Avenues is currently undergoing renovations with a projected opening date of Sept. 1.
The NoHo store will stay open through October and she'll be celebrating Halloween at both locations, Wills told EV Grieve.
