INWOOD – Pet lovers are coming together to find a beloved local cat who went missing from his pet shop home on Saturday, according tot he store's manager.

Midnight, a black cat with a snipped left ear, was last seen inside the Furry Fiends pet store at 630 W. 207th St. on Saturday evening, according to manager Sam Abdelhak.

“It’s not the same here without Midnight,” he said. “Everybody loves him. Many people would stop on their way home from work to play with Midnight.

Midnight joined the Furry Fiends family over a year ago, Abdelhak said, after he frequented the shop to play and eat. “I think he knew this was a pet store,” he added with a laugh.

Abdelhak said the last time he saw Midnight was Saturday evening, before a customer entered the shop with a stroller. He said the cat liked to play and hide in small enclosures, and thinks Midnight might have made his way out in the stroller’s bottom basket.

“I think he got inside the stroller,” he said. “He never left from here [inside the shop] to the store front.”

Abdelhak said that he’s walked around the neighborhood several times, and posted flyers with pictures of Midnight on social media and local buildings.

“There are some other people also looking for Midnight,” he said. “They’ve been helping us look.”

Abdelhak said he got a report that the cat may have been spotted near 207th Street, but is still searching.

“Midnight is so sweet. I am so sorry. I hope he is home soon,” said a customer who declined to give her name Tuesday.

A local dog run page posted Midnight's flyer on their site, asking neighbors to be on the lookout, “since [Midnight] is so friendly, someone might have taken him in thinking he was lost.”

“We just want him back,” Abdelhak said. “He's such a friendly cat.”
