Man Shot and Killed on Schenectady Avenue in Crown Heights

CROWN HEIGHTS — A man was shot and killed on Schenectady Avenue early Tuesday morning, police said.

The 46-year-old man was found by police on the corner of St. John Place in Crown Heights around 1:39 a.m. with a gunshot wound to the chest.

He was rushed to Kings County Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The victim has not yet been identified by the police department. There have been no suspects identified and no arrests, the NYPD said.

The homicide is the third in the 77th Precinct in Crown Heights so far this year. In January, 27-year-old Ernest Sene was shot and killed outside of the Albany Houses; in March, 22-year-old Marlon Shuffler was fatally shot in the head on Lincoln Place near Franklin Avenue.

Overall, shooting incidents are down slightly in the area for the year, according to the most recently available data from the NYPD. Through May 22 of this year — according to the latest weekly crime statistics report from the department — there had been 10 shootings in the 77th Precinct, down 9 percent when compared to the same time period in 2015.
