FAR ROCKAWAY — A 12-year-old boy is in critical condition after he set himself on fire inside his home, police said.
The boy doused himself with rubbing alcohol inside the bathroom of his family's home on Watjean Court on Tuesday night at around 7:45 p.m., police said.
He then lit himself on fire using a stick lighter.
When he realized he couldn't put the fire out himself, he ran out of the house, police said.
Neighbors helped extinguish the flames, and he was taken to Nassau University Medical Center, according to the NYPD.
Police said the boy was home with a cousin, whose age is not available.
There is no criminality suspected, police said.
