THE BRONX — An NYPD officer assigned to the 44th Precinct was arrested in The Bronx Monday and charged with telling a woman he was romantically involved with about an ongoing investigation, according to court papers.

Adam Malki, 24, was arrested at about 10:15 a.m. while he was off duty in the South Bronx following an Internal Affairs Bureau investigation, an NYPD spokesman said.

Malki had started reviewing social media postings for the unspecified investigation in September 2015 before meeting a woman in front of the Buddha Restaurant and Lounge at 1353 Edward L Grand Highway in The Bronx, according to a criminal complaint.

He asked for the woman's phone number and the two developed a romantic relationship, prosecutors said. Malki then began to tell her about the case and showed her photographs of some of the people being investigated.

Malki was arraigned in Bronx Criminal Court Monday afternoon.

It was not immediately clear if the woman was connected to any of the people involved in the investigation.
