BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — A new six-story apartment building is set to rise along Tompkins Avenue this summer, across the street from Herbert Von King Park.

The planned residential project at 253 Tompkins Ave. will feature 10 luxury apartments with 9,748 square feet of space, along with a garden in the rear and a rooftop terrace, according to Ofer Prager of Brooklyn Construction Management, the building's developer.

Renderings from Isaac and Stern Architects show a brick façade, which Prager said fits in with the design of the neighborhood.

The Tompkins Avenue design was first reported by New York YIMBY.

The first three floors will have two units each. The fourth will have one unit and the lower level of a duplex apartment, and the fifth and sixth will each have one unit, according to Prager.

The property on the corner of Tompkins Avenue and Van Buren Street was previously home to a three-story, three-unit building, records show.

The lot changed hands in July 2015, with 253 Tompkins Realty picking it up for $2.15 million, according to city records.

Construction on the new building is expected to begin in June, Prager said, with anticipated completion by fall 2017.
