UPPER EAST SIDE — A Kips Bay teenager has been arrested for the robbery of a 73-year-old man in front of his East 81st Street home last week, according to the NYPD.

Police charged Luis Muniz, 17, with robbery Friday after arresting him for resisting arrest, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon in a separate incident, authorities said.

Police say Muniz, and a second suspect who is still at-large, followed a 73-year-old man to his home near Second Avenue and East 81st Street at 12:30 a.m. on April 18 and threatened him with a knife, police said.

They took the man's LG Terra flip phone and $200 cash and ran away, according to the NYPD.

Muniz, who currently resides in the Children's Center, an Administration for Children's Services shelter, had already been arrested April 16 for criminal mischief and assault before he was arrested for resisting arrest, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and robbery on April 22.

Police say that the second suspect in the April 18 robbery may be connected to the mugging of a 17-year-old boy in Central Park just an hour earlier, they said.

In that case, the teen was walking east from 80th Street and East Drive in the park when a man came up in front of him with a knife at about 11:30 p.m. on April 17 and said, "Give me all you got," authorities said.

Another man then came up from behind and punched him in the back of the head, knocking him to the ground. They then both started punching and kicking the teen, police said.

The man who pulled the knife then demanded the teen's cellphone, police said.

They took off with his Samsung phone and wallet, which had $150 in it, according to police.

At Muniz's arraignment Saturday, the judge set bail at $10,000 cash or bond. Muniz did not post bail and is currently being held at Rikers Island, according to city records. He is due back in court April 28.

The attorney representing Muniz did not immediately return a call for comment Monday.
