LOWER MANHATTAN — Get a behind-the-scenes view of the creative process as more than 30 painters, sculptors, photographers, choreographers and poets open their workspaces for the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s Open Studios event this weekend.

Visitors to the free two-day event can wander through the studios of LMCC's 31 artists-in-residence at 28 Liberty St., inside converted corporate offices. They will be able to check out the various stages of art-making, as well as completed works.

This is one of several open studio events organized by arts nonprofit LMCC, which offers emerging artists and writers a residency program that gives them studio space and mentorship in Lower Manhattan to develop their chosen craft.

The artists will be on hand to chat about their process as visitors meander through the studios on April 29 and April 30.

There will also be a two-hour event Saturday evening that showcases the short stories, novel excerpts and other works of the writers in the residency group.

The event is open to the public, but an RSVP is required. Check out LMCC's website for more information.
