A trio of new baby lemurs have arrived at the Bronx Zoo.

A pair of ring-tailed lemurs and one brown collared lemur were born late in March and are now making their public debut in the zoo's "Madagascar!" exhibit.

The lemurs live with tortoises and birds, including parrots and doves, in a habitat meant to resemble the Malagasy Spiny Forest.

The zoo cautions visitors hoping to catch a glimpse of the baby lemurs that they will have to look very closely, as young lemurs cling to their moms and nestle in their fur.

Madagascar is the only place in the world where lemurs are found in the wild, with brown collared lemurs being concentrated in the southeastern part of the island and ring-tailed lemurs being concentrated in the south and southwestern parts, according to the Bronx Zoo.

The zoo describes ring-tailed lemurs as very social creatures who live in large groups and are good climbers. They note that all lemur species are in danger due to the loss of their habitat.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature has classified both ring-tailed and brown collared lemurs as endangered.

The Bronx Zoo's "Madagascar!" exhibit opened in 2008 and contains six types of lemurs: ring-tailed, brown collared, red ruffed, gray mouse, crowned and Coquerel's sifaka.
