INWOOD — A fake travel agent tricked a woman into forking over thousands of dollars for a promised trip to the Dominican Republic, the NYPD said.

Police said Waldy Silverio-Caceres, 34, met the 51-year-old victim in person near Sherman Avenue and West 204th Street on February 2 at 1 p.m., and claimed he'd book her travel and hotel stay in Santo Domingo.

The suspect, who the victim said was recommended to her by a friend, instead took the $6,123 as a down payment and never booked the trip, police said.

Silverio-Caceres was described as standing approximately 5-foot-9 and weighing about 190 pounds, police said. His last known address was in University Heights in The Bronx.

Last month, police arrested a man allegedly linked to a sham real estate company that took $1,600 from an Inwood family while promising to find it an apartment.
