UPPER WEST SIDE — A popular Belgian bistro is expanding its West Side location to fill a long-vacant spot, the owner said.

B. Cafe will move from 566 Amsterdam Ave., between West 87th and 88th streets, to 620 Amsterdam Ave., between 90th and 91st streets, in about six months, according to owner Skel Islamaj.

Islamaj is moving into the space vacated by Saigon Grill so that he can have a larger operation, he said.

Saigon Grill closed in 2013 after a series of legal battles with former employees who were seeking back wages they said they were owed.

The new B. Cafe will have live music during Sunday brunch from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and feature more than 50 artisan Belgian beers, said Islamaj.

The menu will include burgers, steak frites, moules frites and other Belgian classics like a beef stew cooked with dark beer and served with fries.

While B. Cafe is currently open until 2 a.m. on weekends, Islamaj sought to extend the hours until 4 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, which Community Board 7's Business and Consumer Issues committee approved.

The committee also approved a liquor license for the new location and a sidewalk cafe permit renewal for the current location, which will remain open through the summer.

B. Cafe has had a location on the West Side since 2008 and opened its Upper East Side location on East 75th Street in 2006.
