All Weekend

AfroTANGO
Where: Thalia Hispanic Theatre, 41-17 Greenpoint Ave., Sunnyside
When: Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., Sunday at 4 p.m. 

This show explores the African roots of Tango through music, song and dance, featuring Latin Grammy Award winner Raul Juarena as maestro. Tickets are $40 or $37 for students and seniors and can be purchased here.

Friday, April 15

"Works in Progress" with the Queens World Film Festival
Where: Queens Council on the Arts, 37-11 35th Ave., Astoria
When: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The Queens World Film Festival will present this event, where local filmmakers will screen portions of the short films they're working on, followed by feedback and a discussion of the work. The event is $10; those interested can register here. 

Saturday, April 16

Second Annual Bikes & Brews
Where: Rockaway Brewing Company, 46-01 5th St., Long Island City
When: 12 to 6 p.m.

Drink beers while you shop: nonprofit Recycle-a-Bicycle will host a "grab bag" sale at the brewery where visitors can take home all the bike parts they can fit in a tote bag for $40. The event will also include a show about the history of the folding bicycle by the Bike Cult Show, as well as empanadas for sale from Conscious Colombian Food.

Where: The Church-in-the-Gardens, 50 Ascan Ave., Forest Hills Gardens 
When: 7:30 pm. 

Momenta Quartet and The Daedalus Quartet will perform various string pieces, with drinks provided by Finback Brewery. Tickets are between $17 and $22, depending on where you buy them. 

 Queens Jazz OverGround Spring Festival
Where:
 Flushing Town Hall, 137-35 Northern Blvd., Flushing 
When: 12 p.m. 

Enjoy 10 hours of live jazz music featuring local and young musicians mingling with legends. 

Songkran Festival in Little Thailand

Where: Woodside Avenue between 76h and 77th streets, Elmhurst
When: 12 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Enjoy a full street festival for Thai New Year with live performances, Muay Thai demonstrations, northern Thai food with Andy Ricker of Pok Pok, yoga and pilates classes and more. 

Sunday, April 17

Queens Then and Now
Where: Q.E.D. Astoria, 27-16 23rd Ave., Astoria
When: 3 to 4 p.m.  

Local author and editor Jason D. Antos will present a lecture on the history of the borough, including rare photos of Queens through the years. Tickets are $10.

► Rockaway Wellness Festival
Where: West End Temple, 147-02 Newport Ave., Neponsit 
When: 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

The first-ever "wellness festival" will feature experts on fitness, nutrition, energy and more, as well as local businesses and restaurants selling healthy items. Lectures start at 11 a.m. and run every hour, on the hour. The keynote and meditation will be led by Dr. Nancy Gahles.
