Here's What Happened When Bernie Sanders Returned to His Childhood Home

MIDWOOD — Bernie Sanders returned to his home base for a public rally Friday ahead of the April 19th New York primary elections.

The Democratic presidential candidate held a rally in Midwood at East 26th Street and Avenue P, where he grew up in a rent-controlled apartment, and adjacent to James Madison High School, where he graduated in 1959.

Leading up to the primary, Sanders has spent a lot of time in his hometown, setting up campaign offices in Harlem, Gowanus and Flatbush, leading a rally in the South Bronx last week and planning another in Washington Square Park for April 13.

Friday’s Midwood rally was free and open to the public, but an RSVP was “strongly encouraged,” the campaign said
