Crowbar-Wielding Thieves Rob 13-Year-Old For His Phone, Police Say

CROWN HEIGHTS — A 13-year-old boy was robbed of his cellphone by three men who threatened him with a crowbar this week, police said.

The robbery took place around 5:40 p.m. on March 18 in front of 575 East New York Ave. between Brooklyn and Kingston avenues as the boy was walking along the sidewalk.

Police said the three men approached him, asked “What’s in your pockets?” then threatened him with the crowbar and took his iPhone 5S cellphone.

All three suspects fled on foot on East New York Avenue. The teen was uninjured during the robbery, police said.

► A shoplifter threatened a worker at a kosher supermarket with a knife when the 27-year-old worker tried to stop him from stealing. The incident happened around 7:00 p.m. on March 16 at Koshertown market at 469 Albany Ave., police said.

► Unknown suspects broke into a work van on the corner of Montgomery Street and Franklin Avenue and stole about $3,200 worth of tools including a water meter, screwdrivers, a set of Allen keys and rollers from inside the vehicle. Police said the burglary of the 2013 Ford van took place around 2:00 a.m. on March 18.

► Two suspects are wanted for forcibly robbing an 18-year-old in his apartment. Police said the two men came into the victim’s apartment at 161 Clarkson Ave. around 2:30 p.m. on March 18, held him against his will and took his XBOX video game console, Beats headphones and Samsung cellphone, then fled on foot. The 18-year-old victim was uninjured in the incident.

► About $3,000 worth of electronic equipment including turntables, microphones and speakers were stolen with a 2001 Ford van from Fenimore Street between New York and Brooklyn avenues. The 50-year-old owner of the van told police he parked it there around 10 p.m. on March 20 and discovered the theft at 7 a.m. the next morning.

► A group of five suspects threatened and robbed a 15-year-old boy for his phone and MetroCard at the corner of Parkside and Rogers avenues, police said. The robbery took place around 6:30 p.m. on March 22 when the suspects, four of them on foot and one on a bike, mimicked having a firearm, then grabbed his property — a Galaxy 5S phone, his school ID card and a student MetroCard.
