CROWN HEIGHTS — Nostrand Avenue is about to get a lot more spirited.
A new wine and spirits shop is set to open in Crown Heights, specializing in locally sourced tipples.
The store, Simple Syrup, will open in about two months at 810 Nostrand Ave. near Lincoln Place, said owner Michael de Zayas.
The shop, which temporarily housed a pop-up gift store last year, will bring a big selection of Brooklyn-centric spirits and New York State wines to a renovated space with room for wine tastings and “Wine 101” classes, de Zayas said.
He added he hopes the “boutique” wine shop will bring something unique to the avenue north of Eastern Parkway.
“There’s nothing like it on Nostrand between Atlantic and Eastern,” he said.
The shop will be stocked by sommelier Paul Lang, previously of Il Buco and Babbo in Manhattan, de Zayas said.
The State Liquor Authority issued a conditional letter of approval for the store’s liquor license in early March, the agency’s records show.
This is not de Zayas’ first store in the neighborhood or on the avenue.
Last year, he opened Two Saints, a cocktail and coffee bar, located a block away from Simple Syrup at Nostrand Avenue and St. Johns Place and right next to his Linden Salon, which recently reopened with new staff.
He also owns Little Zelda coffee shop, Nagle’s Bagels and Hullabaloo Books on Franklin Avenue.
