HELL’S KITCHEN — A cook at a Ninth Avenue restaurant threw a knife at a co-worker and cut his hand after the two got in a fight, police said.

The 35-year-old cook was working at Medi Wine Bar at 811 Ninth Ave. around 11:15 a.m. on Feb. 25 when he and a fellow employee started arguing, a complaint filed with the Manhattan District Attorney’s office said.

At some point during the verbal disagreement, the cook threw a kitchen knife at his co-worker, lacerating the man’s left hand, according to the police.

A police officer who reported to the scene found the employee standing in front of the restaurant “bleeding heavily” from the cut, the complaint said.

The cook, who remained at the restaurant after the incident, told the officer that his co-worker argued with him constantly, according to the complaint.

He claimed he was holding a knife as he tried to wave the employee away during the dispute, but wasn’t sure how the man’s hand got cut, the complaint said.

The cook was arrested and charged with assault, police said.

He was arraigned Feb. 26 and released on his own recognizance, the DA’s office said.

He is expected to appear in court May 2.

An attorney for the cook could not be reached Tuesday, and neither the manager nor the owner at Medi Wine Bar immediately responded to requests for comment.
