CARROLL GARDENS — Carroll Gardens's public library will get a new $1.8 million heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system, but the branch will have to close during the installation for an undetermined period of time, officials said.

The equipment will be installed on the rooftop of the library at 396 Clinton St. near Union Street, according to Community Board 6's website.

A representative for Brooklyn Public Library told DNAinfo on Friday morning that the work is "too far away" to know a complete timeline.

“It will be closed but we don’t know how long for,” spokeswoman Madeline Kaye said.

An application for a Certificate of Appropriateness was presented to CB6's landmarks/land use committee Thursday evening.

The committee conditionally approved the library's request, board members said.
