ARROCHAR — A man robbed a Staten Island deli at knifepoint on Tuesday then punched a worker in the face before fleeing, police said.

The suspect walked into the El Jardin Deli and Grocery, at 274 Sand Lane near Olympia Boulevard, at about 8:30 p.m. and asked the 28-year-old male worker for change, police said.

The man took out a knife, jumped over the counter and took $400 from the cash register, police said. He then punched the worker in the face and left with another man who served as a lookout, police said.

The suspect was described by police as standing about 6 feet tall and wearing a dark jacket, fur trimmed hoodie and a Chicago Bulls hat.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
