PROSPECT-LEFFERTS GARDENS — The second location of a popular Rogers Avenue cafe opened this week, bringing a new eatery to a storefront directly across from a large school to help serve local teachers, its owners said.

The Gratitude Bakeshop opened Monday at 629 Rogers Ave. at the corner of Parkside Avenue in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, its owners told DNAinfo New York and announced on Facebook.

“It's a soft opening, so bear with us,” wrote the owners, husband-and-wife team Annalisa Riordan and Richard Otto who have run the nearby Gratitude Cafe at the corner of Rogers Avenue and Midwood Street since 2014.

Otto, who is a former public school teacher, said the couple chose the new spot because it’s right across from the P.S. 92 building, where their daughter attends the Lefferts Gardens Charter School, and a couple doors down from P.S. 141, which shares a building with Parkside Preparatory Academy and Explore Charter School.

“We specifically picked that corner because we wanted to support the teachers in the area,” he said. “The goal is to be there for them.”

For now, the Bakeshop will serve coffee, tea, pastries and sandwiches Monday through Friday, with an expanded menu to come. The new location will be open until 2 p.m. this week with planned hours from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the future.
