CHELSEA — A New Jersey man with a blood alcohol level nearly twice the legal limit was arrested for driving in a neighborhood bike lane, police said.

The 26-year-old was driving near the northwest corner of West 22nd Street and Eleventh Avenue around 2:40 a.m. on Feb. 7 when an EMS driver noticed him heading down a lane reserved for bikes, according to police.

Police pulled the man over and discovered he had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and that he was slurring his speech, the NYPD said.

They tested his blood alcohol content with a Breathalyzer and found it was 0.13 percent — well above the legal limit of 0.08 percent.

The man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.
